It’s been one of those weeks.

Posted on: September 29, 2011

You ever just have one of those days?  How about an entire week of “those” days?  That’s been my week.  One very exhausting, frustrating, “when will it be Friday”, kind of weeks.  More specifically, it’s been a week full of very challenging mornings at home.

This is going to sound strange, perhaps disgusting to some of you, but today was the first day since Sunday I had a complete shower.   Let me define “complete”.  I washed, shampooed, conditioned, and shaved.  All without interruption.  First day since Sunday…what was the rest of the week like?  Well, either I didn’t get a shower at all or I got 1/4 – 1/2 a shower because “G” woke up 45 minutes early and wouldn’t sit in the swing or jumparoo while I finished showering.  So, I didn’t get to complete my shower.  I either a) Got in the water and was just able to wash up or b) Got in the shower washed and shampooed.  That’s it.  Then, I had to put on my makeup, do my hair, get dressed and entertain/keep “G” out of trouble at the same time.

That was just the first hour of my day.  Next, getting my little man ready.   Where do I even begin?  He’s almost 11 months old and wants absolutely nothing to do with having his diaper changed.  I wish someone had told me this was going to happen.  I wish they had told me that I would spend numerous mornings very frustrated because it takes me 10 minutes to do something that should only take 2 minutes.

Next is breakfast.  For some reason, we’ve had some issues this week.  My poor little monkey has been gagging and spitting up at breakfast all week.  Very unusual for him.   I’ve come to the conclusion I think it was the bananas he was eating…not sure but either way it involved a mess and more clean up which put us behind schedule and pushed us towards getting out the door late.

After all of that, I get my jacket on, have everything ready to go at the door, put my little monkey’s jacket on and then, I smell it.  Yep, the poopy diaper.  And it comes just as we’re about to walk out the door.  So, we go back in the baby’s room for another 10 minute diaper change fight.  Only this time it’s worse because I’m trying to contain the poop while he rolls around and make sure it doesn’t get all over everything.

Finally, all is said and done and we walk out the door 15-20 minutes late.

That has been every day this week.  Every day.  Today, however, took the cake.  On top of everything listed above, “G” threw up all over his clothes after breakfast.  I cleaned up the mess, changed his clothes (and diaper), leaned down to put him on the floor so I could clean up the changing table and he threw up again.  This time on me.  Now I had to change.  Uhhh…

Yeah…that’s been my week…Here’s hoping next week is better.

Hang in there! It has to get better, I can’t imagine any worse. Love you.

Thanks mom! Love you too.

But then he grins at you and it is all better! As my mom used to say, “They don’t come with instructions!” Even if they did, they wouldn’t follow them! Hang in there, Mommy!

That’s very true Pat. His cute little smile always makes me melt.

Awe, I feel for you Leah! I’ll say a prayer for you and “G” that he’ll start keeping his food down and for you to keep hanging in there. There comes a point where you can’t let it frustrate you anymore. There are understanding people out there, including me!
P.S. We’ve had plenty of those, “Oh great, a poopy one” while on the way out the door! Try having an extra pair of clothes for him and at least a shirt set out for you everyday, maybe placed in a different spot so you don’t have to go dig around for them and worry if it matches or not. For me it actually has saved me minutes in the mornings which you know are precious for us mommies!

Thanks Ranay!
