First birthday!

Posted on: November 3, 2011

Today is my little man’s FIRST BIRTHDAY!  I am a mish mosh of emotions just thinking about it.  People always say “Time goes by so fast” and it sounds so cliché, but I have to say, it’s true.  It feels like just yesterday I gave birth to my adorable little 7lb 3oz man then I blinked my eyes and now here we are a whole year later.

I can still remember every detail from the time my water broke until the moment my precious son came into the world.  He was so small and fragile and beautiful.  My heart was overflowing with love from the second I saw him.

I held him in my arms, kissed his little forehead and looked at my husband.  He was our perfect little angel.

My husband and I have both loved every moment with our little man.  Watching him grow bigger each day and discover new things has been so amazing.  Yes, there have been MANY challenging times, but it is all worth it.  Even the poopy diapers.  This is why women go through the pain and agony of labor over and over again; because the love you have for your child and the joy they bring you is worth so much more than you could ever imagine. Your love for them is unconditional and their love for you is the same.

This first year has gone by so fast and seems like a blur.  One day he was learning how to roll from his tummy to his back and the next day he was teething.   One tooth popped up and then all of a sudden he has seven teeth!

We went from learning to sit up on his own to figuring out how to crawl and get into all kinds of mischief.

I have cherished each special moment with him.  Nap times have been one of my favorites.  I love holding him in my arms and seeing him all curled up and cozy.  Feeling his heart beat against my chest and hearing him breath.

This first year of my little “G”‘s life has been challenging and amazing at the same time.  We’ve had our share of illness, bumps and bruises, messy diapers, sleepless nights, getting thrown up on, nursing strikes, throwing food all over the floor, and teething pain and discomfort.  But we’ve also had smiles, giggles, play time, discovering new foods, nap times together, snuggle time, story time, lots of hugs and kisses, and hearts overflowing with love for one another. Year one has come and gone and I can’t wait to see what year two holds!
