“New” toys for my little man

Posted on: December 22, 2011

My son loves to play.  Anything and everything in our house is a toy to him, whether it’s his actual toys, a wooden spoon, fridge magnets, empty boxes, wash cloths, or shoes.  He’ll play with anything he can get his little hands on.  It’s fun to watch him make a game out of every day ordinary things. He gets such joy from doing things like running around carrying a pair of socks in his hands.  It makes me laugh every time.

Recently, my son discovered a previously unchartered area of our house; behind the couches in the living room, or as I like to call it, Diva’s domain (In case you don’t know who Diva is, she’s our Siamese cat).  Up until now, I have been able to successfully block that area off and keep “G” from going back there.  However, the little stinker is clever enough now to figure out how to get around the barrier mommy set up and goes right back there.  In doing so, he has discovered Diva’s box of toys.

It seems that 13 month old babies and cats have the same taste in toys.  My sons favorite seem to be the little plastic balls with jingle bells inside them.  He walks around the house with one in each hand shaking them to hear them jingle and laughs while doing so.  While watching him do this, I had a thought.  I wondered how he would react to the laser pointer we have for Diva.  So, I thought I’d have a little fun and find out.  Here is what happenend:

I wasn’t disappointed in the results.  As you can see, he kept trying to get the light.

This will be my last post for a little while.  I’ll be taking a break over the holidays and will return in January. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
