Help for the Hopeless Homemaker

Posted on: March 9, 2016

This week my friend Katie over at Embracing A Simpler Life is launching her very first online course! It’s called “Help for the Hopeless Homemaker” and it’s a fantastic course on taking control of your homemaking. I’ve had the privilege of getting a sneak peak at the course and wanted give you all a quick review of it.

Help for the Hopeless Homemaker is an 11 day course designed to help you take small simple steps that will change the way you take care of your home. The course includes a 3-5 minute video for each day, a workbook with daily worksheets, and printables. Throughout the course, Katie takes a Biblical approach to homemaking and also talks about how to balance your hard work and homemaking with resting well.

One thing I love about the course is that while it’s 11 days long, you can do it at your own pace and take your time with it. So if you feel you need a week or so to put into practice what you’re taught in Day 2, for example, you can do that and then move on to Day 3 when you’re ready. This course is designed to help the reader establish daily habits that will make their homemaking easier. There are so many simple steps we, as wives and mothers, can take to make our living environment more pleasant for us and our families. Little things we don’t even always think about or realize how much stress they actually put on us if not done. For example, cleaning the dishes immediately after dinner instead of waiting to do them later. How many times have you just piled the dishes up in the sink and said, “I’ll do it later” and then later comes and you realize they aren’t done but you just don’t feel like doing it. The next thing you know, the dishes are still sitting there the next day and you feel a burden on you to get them done. Taking the time to simply clean up right after dinner will lift this burden and free you to enjoy the rest of your evening without the thought of dirty dishes in the sink looming over you.

Help for the Hopeless Homemaker also addresses how to declutter your home, create problem solving systems, setting a time to pick up nightly, the principal of hard work, and how to use scripture memorization to keep you motivated through it all.

I really enjoyed this course! Katie’s principals for homemaking are simple yet powerful. The videos are helpful and encouraging and the workbook is a great tool to plan and get you started on your homemaking journey. What’s great is that the video, workbook reading, and daily worksheet are designed to take you no more than 15 minutes! It’s perfect for all you busy moms out there! The course is only $32 and is well worth the money. For more information on the upcoming course, check out THIS post on Katie’s blog.
