St. Patrick’s Day Surprise

Posted on: March 17, 2016

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Last week I posted over on Mama Is Joy about making a Leprechaun trap with my boys to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Today, I’m going to reveal the mess the Leprechaun made and how my boys reacted.

After the boys went to bed last night I got to work making the mess our little leprechaun left behind. Here’s how I did it:

First, I took the Lucky Charms and gold coins out of the trap, leaving a few pieces of cereal behind.

Next, I made a mess of the table. I used a toy with small feet and washable paint to make little leprechaun footprints (if you’d rather not use paint, you can always search for a template online and print them out instead). I wrote a note from the leprechaun and left a few gold coins with the note.

I also put footprints on the floor and left a trail of Lucky Charms from the kitchen through our living room, which I made messy, and to the bathroom.

In our bathroom, I put green food coloring in the toilet and put two footprints on the toilet seat.

Voila! Signs a leprechaun has visited your house.

When my boys woke up and came downstairs, they couldn’t believe what they saw. Being true boys, their favorite part was the toilet, of course (forgive the poor quality of the pictures below. It was pretty early…).

This was so much fun that I plan to do this every year! A new tradition for our family.

How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

So fun! The leprechaun trap is too cute and I love the idea of following up with a visit from Mr. Leprechaun, himself 🙂

Thanks! We had fun doing it!
